Misc feedback requests

FWIW (probably not much), of Tem's 30 Shei kills in our AK database, zero include spell drops. That may mean they didn't drop, or that the officers just didn't bother entering that data.

 

I don't think we ever entered spells in TPS, other than ancients (which Shei definitely doesn't drop).

If Utdaan is hoovering spells from trash mobs and doesn't loot any from Shei, though, I agree that suggests they didn't drop.

 

He was looting junk like centi meat and worms. Probably to clear corpses.

Next loot question: did https://eq.magelo.com/item/26849/Fist-of-Acrylia drop on AK? I have no hits for it in my logs.

The Itraer Vius used to drop it, but it looks like they replaced it with https://eq.magelo.com/item/26860

 

Tem recorded 11 kills, in which the Fist of Glowing Acrylia dropped twice and the Fist of Acrylia did not drop. No one on Allakabor claimed either on their profile (which is unsurprising, I don't think the Itraer Vius saw much action in AK's later years).

 

Pathfinders was probably one of the most regular killers of IV on AK in the last 2-3 years of AK's lifetime- We always held a little hope for that Fist, but no, only the Glowing one did. I suspect it was an artifact of early Luclin Allakhazam documentation/tuning. There's various boss loots scattered around Luclin like that. Emp rings, TVK Kylthorn boots, Aten blobs Steel cloak, etc...

 

What were the ancient spell drop rates on Luclin bosses? I'd like some user input on this before I make some estimates. I can see that Sony changed the spell drop chances on some of these NPCs.

 

Okay, this is a bit speculative, because we often didn't bother to record these when they rotted, which was most of the time. But at a guess:

Rare-ish drops (25% or lower?):

100% drop rate, maybe?:

Lord Inquisitor Seru (seems odd, but I can't find a log of an LIS kill without an ancient spell drop, and all of Tem's early raid entries - at which spells were least likely to rot - include one)

 

Honestly I'd have probably been way off just by looking at log kills since so many kills had unlooted spells. I'm certainly glad you're around to provide feedback.

 

Torven thanks for all the hard work you and the other devs put into this server and SoL. I am going to try and find a off hand power cable for my old Mac PowerPC laptop and comb through the logs/SSs for ya.

Ps. Any possible chance shield of spiked energy could be reimplanted in vt? I think about 10 or so people had one on AK from GM events and I’d love to see that beautiful beast back in game.

 

Hip Hop Horray for Torven and other Devs!

On the Shield of Spiked Energy- More like 2-3 people had it on AK via an AK GM event. Manlee and Moonphantom had it, Lana and Thuule asked for SEWS instead. I am unaware of any Temerity or randos getting loot from that GM event, I do recall a Time monk 2hb, though! Would not be AKurate to have the Shield dropping. GM event reward though? /shrug. It is amusing to play with the shield on Test server, though.

 

Zetro and Slouch 1.0 had shields from GM events. Ridiculous item.

Moonphantom and Zetro also got the shield from the GM event.

There are several excellent Luclin items that were removed shortly after launch and well before our timeline, including the shields. I figure SOE probably knew what they were doing when they took 'em out, though.

 

Whoa, guess my AK "who is who" knowledge isn't that extensive! Thanks for the correction, folks! And I assume some Allakabor profiles are fake- they are easily "BiS dreamlists" for those that are too lazy to hide/tag them as such.

 

Ah, yeah, I forgot about Moonphantom.

I think some P2002 folks use AllaKabor, too. Maybe their version of VT has the shield and other pre-revamp drops.

 

I don't think the other devs would go for that. I don't want to change drop tables either.

Better idea is make it a reward for anniversary events or GM events here like AK did, IMO. Although that item looks rather good, so it should be rare/difficult to acquire.

Does anybody know the stats of Archmage's Sandals from the Archmage Gorraferg encounter?

Does anybody know of any other loot from this encounter other than the following?

I see some Destiny comments on Allakhazam (from 2007, a long time ago) that claim to know Tashakhi's drops. Item IDs and stats suggest that at least two of these drops might have been from the Witchdoctor however, and not Tashakhi. Can any old school Destiny people explain how they knew of Tashakhi's drops?

we did have a ;lewt (or however it worked) tool on AK. Did that pull directly from AK's database, I wonder?

 

No. Well, sort of: if Lewt's database had the correct item name and ID number stored, you could use it to generate an item link that would show AKurate stats. Where Lewt didn't have the correct item name and ID number stored, you could fiddle around with your hotbuttons and .ini file to "hunt" for missing items or unknown item ID numbers by trial and error (this is how people figured out both that that we were missing the PoTime BPs, and that the BP combines would produce random garbage from LoY, heh).

So it's possible, I guess, that people found some Inner AC items by poking around the item ID numbers in that area of AK's database (which didn't always match up with the EQLive database) and made some guesses about which mobs might drop them. But nobody ever advanced beyond the trap door in Inner AC, because whatever event allowed access during Luclin was removed before our code date. We had two working events (Arch Mage and Witch Doctor), an obviously incomplete event in which the boss could nevertheless be triggered and killed (Foreman), and a few random static trash and untargetables that couldn't be triggered. That was it.

How do you know the the event was removed? Did ya talk to RoV folks? Real curious! First time I've heard of anything being removed in IA before zone was redone. I know you used to be in VF, I was in ToT (flash in pan guild, that competed with VF for 1/2 to 1 year) Was this known by Gnostica? I find it hard to believe that Gnos would've tried to do the events knowing that it was unadvancable beyond a certain point.

Anyways, I did see the untargetable mobs in the trapdoor room, and could easily peek through walls in there to see the rest of the areas with various mobs (don't know if these were untargetable or not)

Edit: what I mean by my Gnostica comment is that it was his working theory that the first 3 events had to be beat within a time frame for the trap room npcs to become targetable. We never did so, however.

Anyway, that's certainly not ironclad evidence - I don't know for sure that the Chieftain was the event relevant to moving past the trap door room, and Megumi's remarks don't seem 100% in accordance with the situation on AK - but I was always under the impression that the bulk of Inner AC was made deliberately inaccessible for a long time before the 2003 revamp, and that AK fell into that period.

 

Re: item loot specifically, in corroboration of Megumi's Safehouse post above, which says much of Inner AC was unitemized before the revamp, this letter from Akkirus (the dev who created Inner AC, but left EQ before completing it) suggests that a search for Tashakhi's original loot table might be a wild goose chase:

Great research and info, RW. Seems Gnos never knew about those things. I think our IA raids mainly fizzled out (due to departures, time, and the fact that it was a PUG Raid, etc...) around the the time we would attempt the 3rd raid event.
