Seeing if anyone else has farmed an absurd number of rare items. I’ve farmed 21 Driftwood Treasure Chests. Anyone got more of those or something equally rare?
Jeez. I thought I was up there with my 5 or 6. That's gotta be months of afk farming with a GINA trigger.
They're only vendor fodder, buy https://www.takproject.net/allaclone/item.php?id=14163 and https://www.takproject.net/allaclone/item.php?id=14149 are set as low as 0.009% (perhaps even lower!) chance from only 3 mobs each. I'm curious if anyone even remembers looting one of them! Seeing other things on their loot list with absurdly low chances that probably shouldn't be there! But would be neat if someone saw a https://www.takproject.net/allaclone/item.php?id=13387 or https://www.takproject.net/allaclone/item.php?id=18947 off a common orc cent also set at 0.009% chance! That orc cent even has raw-hide sleeves randomly set at 0.009% chance. Such a mysterious creature.
I can tell you the rarest items are twilight sea and scarlet desert random rares. Half of them aren't even discovered on live (or on magelo). Torven tried to figure out why they're so rare, sounds like every npc in twilight has a loot table that is 1% drop chance, and the common drop is a regular "Pearl", the rare drop on that table is whatever the rare is (bottomless box, grand mask, etc.). So they're around .01% drop rate, and most trash npcs have their own rare. On this missing loots thread, down a couple posts, i made a whole section talking about what isn't discovered yet : List of Missing Loots | The Al'Kabor Project - PoP era Everquest (takproject.net) I killed tens of thousands of aliens when I was trying for bottomless box, over the course of 4 months on live (it was the last super rare item I wanted to get), and I saw a total of 5 rares. 3 of them I submitted to allakhazams because they weren't on there yet, and this was 2008-2009ish.
Those drop rates are obscene and just completely out of whack. If any custom content were to be done, it would probably make sense to bump those drop rates up to 10% or 15%.
