    Hi Everyone,

My earth pet cannot keep aggro. Bard pulls and backs away while earth pet attacks with taunt on. I wait until mob is at 80% health and move the bard in range to melee. Pet immediately loses aggro. If I wait until mob is 60% health, pet still cannot keep aggro. Proximity seems to dominate.

My guys are level 17 in the case that level matters. Also, the mob can hit my bard from much farther away than my bard can hit the mob. I know there was a post on mob melee range a while back, but that may be unrelated.

I'd like to play with the mage, but the pet needs to tank. It seems that I'm missing something here.

This isn't a DBG server. PCs are going to take aggro over pets 100% of the time in melee range.

This is how EQ mechanics worked from 1999 until like 2014 when DBG changed it.

Echoing Benz - yes, this is working properly.

If you are anywhere on the mob's hate list and are also in it's melee range, you will always take aggro over any pets, no matter how much hate the pets have.

Blind the mob you want tanked by a pet.

Thanks. I had the feeling I was missing something basic.
