So besides attaining loot through the traditional means of questing and downing raid targets, GMs have the power to award loot through events, or other means (I assume it will be no different on this server). My question is, will there be a strict policy in place concerning what "kind" of loot can be awarded? I know on AK this was mishandled, and some people ended up getting Plane of Time pieces before anyone had even broken into time. My personal opinion is that GM rewards should be novelty items like illusion masks, etc, or wearable items with stats that are *not* end game pieces. I personally think end game loot should be a representation of where you have been with your character, and what you and your guild have accomplished according to the content of the actual game, not because you got lucky at an arbitrary GM event. If I see a warrior sporting a BoW, I want to be able to make the assumption that Rallos Zek himself dropped it for him/her.

So I guess my question would be, what will be the server policy concerning these matters?

I think that every time we login that there will be a No Rent version of a completely random item from the entire equip-able items DB in our inventory.

Mage bags and leaving a corpse would make that a terrible idea.

    Didn't think that one through.

I remember a couple of these GM events drew the ire of certain purists particularly in Temerity when they happened. I guess intellectually I can understand the point but it was pretty harmless IMO and think it's probably far down the list of priorities for this server given the stage of development it's at.

Very well thought out question and I like that this was brought up.
We haven't had any team conversations regarding GM event loots. Only the ideas of the events and when.
IMO if stat loot was ever awarded it should be progression appropriate.
That being said I actually agree 100% with the sentiments in this concern.

The only time I like or even entertain the idea of gear loot from GM events is if it is an extremely rare event that requires the entire server population or a major percentage of it.
But I don't really see this happening anytime soon. I do like the idea of novelty loots tho.

We can't and won't modify or add custom loots that are accessible by players. So changing to no rent or timed existence (similar to no rent but scripted or coded to poof at a given server length of time).
Would be against the spirit of being close to AK as possible. Item are just something we either won't touch or consider lightly at all in regards to changing it.

So for any loots from events that I host will be novelty items or non-game breaking / unbalancing clickies or whatnot.
Examples being the Guide Packs. Those just gave a nice storage boost with some weight reduction.
Maybe other guide based loots as well could be future considerations.

Include Deluxe Sewing Kits in the events. I loved having those on the PC side and I never had one on AK.

I thought these were available as Casino loots?

I know they are/were on Live and on PEQ. Never played the Shadowhaven Casino on EQMac.

It's like a fungi tunic with 45 stamina and 125 HP during the velious era, it's like a fungi tunic and a vindi breastplate got drunk and invited Rodcet Nife into the bedroom for a three-way.

I agree wholeheartedly with the concerns here. I'm grateful for Speedz opinion on this and I hope the others will follow your ideals and example concerning GM event rewards. I think GM events should be fun and rewarding but in the way mentioned above. Backpacks, illusion clickies, titles, potions, and minor stuff.

But when I see someone with end game raid gear that they just got showered with at a GM event (and I saw it far too often on AK), then I firmly believe that it unbalances things and makes raiding for hours and waiting your turn time after time to acquire certain wishlist items into a joke. It puts a bad taste in the mouths of people who wait months or years and that assist in extremely difficult encounters to acquire something that was just handed out to somebody's alt for showing up to a GM event.

If you want raid gear, raid. If you want a gnome shaman, go to a GM event :)

    My 3 cents, at least.

Who doesn't want a gnome shaman? Endgame raid gear was never (intentionally) given out at GM events, a few unsavory individuals ended up with some items but nothing game breaking. I don't care if you think an RoD was endgame, it wasn't.

But gnome clickies to all true gnomethusiasts.

I agree, nobody doesn't want a gnome shaman! And that's a fun reason to go to GM events. However, I wasn't thinking any particular item until you mentioned that. I did see someone that won a Shield of Strife from one. I shook my head at that, that shouldn't ever be a GM event reward.

I'm always in favor of artifact items because it's one per server, and it's not as gamebreaking as #summoning BoC's on every event. It adds to the lore, and makes something unique... and I do like to be a special snowflake.

A bunch of people get nice items during a GM event over on PEQ. Nothing groundbreaking imo. Just some Doze quest items, EP loot in small quantities, and a necklace from the VT, the uber one, can;t remember the game.. The rewards were quite nice, but the event was also very challenging and required the whole server to participate. It was super cool, and I don't think that the rewards were really that game breaking in the GoD era. I don't believe it was game breaking in anyway and it was a really fun time. Al tough the purposes of the server differ quite a bit
