I didn't say I was annoyed, just disheartened. The context is a little bit different in this case, since it is only a two-week event. In regular everquest, if something is camped I can say "Oh well, that's EQ. I'll try again later." But with a strict time limit on these quests, the urgency is a wee bit higher. Granted I've still been able to farm my fair share of turn ins. Over 30 tokens now I'm pretty sure. No rare finds yet though!
there is a DE ranger on the server. elrontaur, rewarded for hard work put in to testing content on dev. given the amount of clamoring for guise... i think there are more guises on the server from testing content on the dev server than from this event. if people put this much effort into dev testing we might even get luclin faster (once work on that begins). just food for thought. note: i have no idea if devs even intend to award more stuff for testing, i'm just throwing this out there.
There is always a rewards for dedicated Testers for each expansions that were being worked on. There have been rewards given out to those that continued testing through velious and kunark.
You really want a guise? Then do a shitload of testing on Luclin, and help us get it ready. And I guarantee you will get one. But that does not mean, you do 5 bug reports, help in 2 zones, over a two week period, and that's all. Each of us often spend 100's of hours on expansions. Sometimes 40+ hrs a week. My reward? I get to play the game I want to play. With mechanics being top notch, and the server content being the highest quality.
I put 300k of BumBankā¢ into the economy for this event. I set aside only that much and won't put anymore in to mess up our economy too much. 0 guise, 0 very rare items, 9 tink bags in 150 purchased tokens and 50 or so I camped That's life though
All my work in alpha just got me the title "the Bum" for all my bitchin and moanin Coulda at least given me http://www.takproject.net/allaclone/item.php?id=31861
Bum. I would have let u turn in my items free. U get a guise. 50k. Otherwise, i get all else. No cost to you. However. I didn't have many turnins. Done 3. Have two more ready. H
Well, did the casino exist in Shadowhaven on AK? I see it was entered into Alla's in December of 2003. If we have events like this, we may put that in too if it didn't already exist on AK.
The casino was added to remove the massive amount of platinum that was duped on all the servers after a big bug happened
I think guises were only given out for an alpha test on a nagafen raid that happened in late 2014. I got WR bag / title for testing kunark and velious. I was worried they'd never give another chance to win a guise, was really happy they allowed it for this event. Even though I'll probably not win one, I'm just glad the opportunity was there, and hope future events will give a chance at cool stuff too. I think live servers usually added around 5-10 guises a year, per server, from gm events and things like that, which seems about what this event is on course with.
Well, if nothing else you can boost your charisma and sell the 9 tink bags back to a vendor for about 4950pp each... and recoup 44k of your plat. And all the gate pots are worth about 175pp per gate charge (1750pp for 10 dose, etc). Not ideal... but definitely sucks no rare items in all those turn ins Sorry to hear that.
**** that. Bum owns the server. We need to decentralize this economy. Keep the anniversary going and we might make a dent in the Fed.
I've often wondered exactly how that bug worked. Never heard the full story. The craziest bug I heard of was being able to put "No Drop" items into public containers (i.e. looms, brew barrels, etc), and then another player could open said container and retrieve the item... but I know that didn't generate any new plat. The other one I heard of was years ago, some "banker in Befallen" myth/legend... gave out plat in place of copper, or some nonsense.
Kinda think the tinks were selling back for like 2k Would be cool if rob adds one or two HEBs, prenerf cos, ton po, fungus patch vest for the last few days as a last harrah
there was for sure a corpse duping bug during PoP. It happened to me by accident and I was never really 100% sure how it happened. I remember mine happened when I had a huge train of mobs in VT and clicked the orb to exit, it left a corpse in VT but I spawned with all my gear in umbral plains. I petitioned since I didn't want to get banned and they let me keep the corpse (which was a pretty big payout - holgresh beads, WR bags, earring of the falling stars, etc) If someone figured out how to do it and duped their plat stash a bunch, then went to bazaar and bought everything that was 1mill+ plat, they could have ruined the market themselves.
Back in my naughty teen days one of my rl friends was into mq2 and for a while you could put no drops into shared bank and retrieve it with an alt. Made some l33t twinks
No, they actually bring 4950ish pp from a vendor, assuming 125+ charisma. I have sold and bought a few back (when I needed quick plat). I only take a loss of about 200pp on the buy/sell exchange. They hold most of their value.
Recently on live there was a bug where charmed pets were accepting no drop items. Charm pet, hand over no drop item, break charm, kill pet, loot item on another character. Got fixed pretty quickly though. I guess I started on AK right after the "big dupe." Often heard it discussed while I was leveling to explain the jacked up economy. No clue how they did it, but between that and the prominence of RMT toward the end, the AK economy was pretty screwed up.
Overall, I liked this event very much. TY ! Finally have a tinker bag on my wizard! Though she turned up her nose at all the "potions of the frost" I tried to give her. Suggestion for the future: If someone collects a full set of ( ....Rubicite.... whatever ) , be able to turn that in for a SUPERDUPER token !
I was thinking a reward for collecting all the different weapons. Once you turn in one of all weapons, then you get the special reward item.
Next year I'd like to see players spread out a bit more. Make us turn in some Truncheons of Doom or something.
yea I honestly figured there was going to be a title for the first to turn in all weapons. Not to say I didn't love the event, I did, great job guys.
I'd be really interested to see the data on the frequency of weapons collected. Like, did anyone turn in the drops from Barnacle Bones or Grazhak? I personally tried to find both and failed miserably (I even thought I isolated the Grazhak spawn, but didn't even have him pop). What were the most commonly turned in items and what level/classes were the people who turned in those items?
Glowing Iron Pike was probably the most common. I know at one point Notorious turned in like 15 of them.
