The server launched into its current state January 1st 2014? Before that there was a period of Alpha though. Dunno exactly what they did last year.
Exp bonus does get new people to try the server sometimes. Right now, there is no exp bonus planned. The buggy exp rates for takp were put in, where groups of 4 or more have bigger bonuses all the time. One of the tradeoffs for this was to be more AK like. And that means no more exp bonuses during holidays, anniversaries, etc. Want someone new to try? Make them ur 4th in ur group. You get more exp per kill, per person than 3 in group.
There will be an anniversary quest similar to last year anniversary. Be on the look out on this incoming wednesday that will last 2 weeks in addition to last year.
As a new player to this server I'm not going to lie but i'm pretty bummed about not having the additional exp bonus. Pretty much every single eq server is doing an exp bonus for this time period except for this one. I get the fact that you're trying to remain as legit as possible but on eqmac i was able to box my 4th toon in to receive this free exp without having to worry.

So if its like AK doesn't that mean the 6th spot is no extra exp but they do not count as a 6th? Am I remembering that correctly? When people grouped wasn't the optimum 5 people?
I think the 6th was a drain unless they improved your kill rate by like 20-30% which they did not usually
No I can't. And any vote on whether to add a pre-nerf as a reward, I will abstain because I am biased. Any items I have on my play chars, I get based on camping, raids, or the ever popular bumquest.
