I am working on an Allaclone redo. It will nearly match the real Allaclone when done. It will also have some custom features that I won't talk about until I work on them The basic template is there, most links don't work. It is not something that is "usable" right now by any means. But just thought I'd share for the heck of it http://www.takproject.net/allaclone2/index.php FYI, this is live edit/deving. So stuff changes constantly. Sometimes it will break and look like hell. Also when I work on more sensitive bits, you will see a "Under Construction" banner instead of the normal page. This will be going in the fully open source git repo for those interested as well.
I need some wiki volunteers to fill in the wiki pages that I generate links for in this tool. This is partly why I opened this up for live viewing.
Also relevant to this topic, I will be collaborating with speedz to modernize the code a bit and hopefully make allaclone more accessible and usable for the smartphone age.
Yep, the way the rendering code will be designed it will be so simple to change up things if there is issues with a browser/device/phone. One singular rendering file with no other garbage to confuse the coders
The only thing that I have to grope around to find elsewhere on the net is what items are used for X quest. Allakhazam lists all the items needed to complete a quest with links to the mobs that drop them, the factions used, etc... The reverse is also true where all mob descriptions list any quests they are associated with, what factions are involved, in addition to listing the items they drop. Cross referencing the data would make allaclone the only site I would need to be able to play the game.
Would be cool if you could post under each item or mob to add specifics or hints, similar to how Allakhazam does it. I understand at though point though, someone needs to admin it more closely.
I really want this. It is in mind to figure out how to implement it. I have wanted this for years. But need to transition the current code to something more compatible with our server and plans. This is a great idea. Plan is to have all the functionality on clone that the real Alla has for EQ live.
Once I get to committing this to the git, you can download the eqmac database, and then clone allaclone. All deving is done straight off the repo. Except the current 2.0 version is nothing like what is currently up. I can't commit it until it works well enough to use as a replacement. I didn't branch this version, I started coding on it and it took a life of it's own. This version is so drastically different in code that a branch would be pointless sadly.
By cavedude's great suggestion this is now known as ZAMClone. I will change the url once this is completed. The unfortunate side effect of all things old, some links will no longer work as directory structure has changed in it. So urls will also be changed. Key part that is easy to note is the "core" addition in the url. This will outright replace the old clone so that url will cease. http://www.takproject.net/allaclone2/core/news.php
Ok, new update. I kinda hit a wall in sanity as far as interpreting the code to redo it. It is proving to be a tad more of a challenge than is worth to just alter to suit our needs. So, I have added a few tweaks to the original allaclone, Lenas will use that as a base to do his rewrite for the open source version. I on the other hand will completely rewrite it from scratch as ZAMClone essentially making a completely new web application. ZAMClone will be used on TAKP as the main clone ZAMClone will have the message board feature tied directly into these forums. Allaclone will also have a link, but it will be the openly available clone for people wanting to use it on their web host.
Not sure about that one. That would take a mod in the server code and database. Would be up to the team to implement that in order for me to tie in a web view of that.
This is also on pause while I work out this OSX launcher thing. Lenas is likely still going to work on the public clone version in the mean time.
Yeah, just thought it would be cool to mark mobs killed with date how some allaclones list "discovered by" on items; thought about this when we waxed Eye of Veeshan in sky today
Finally got some time to start on this. Allaclone is undergoing a full HTML restructure and will be much more mobile friendly soon(ish):
super sweet. it also looks like there's more info on there than is currently available on allaclone (loc / spawn time) that i'm used to having to look on other sites for. is that something we can definitely look forward to or is that something that might be regarded as "too much info"? i know its not a mobile feature at all but is there any way the item links could be moused over to show the stats?
Hahah sorry, dev version options What information is currently available on allaclone is unlikely to change.* * guessing, not a dev
