I have my guild's (Rest in Peace on Ayonae Ro), at least in theory, as a database dump from an ancient version of MS SQL Server.
I doubt it's any help, but my live Magelo is dated 2004, but thats from the Rathe, not the Mac server.
I'm guessing you only care about PoP on Live for that, right? (Temerity tracking goes back to mid-2004 with velious stuff, 2003-mid2004 spreadsheets are presumed lost.)
I tried searching forums, but couldn't find info. Would anyone have the numbers for the pet focus buff effects they are willing to share please? Specifically trying to find some info on what the pet focus effects are for these two items: Gloves of Dark Summoning - from vex thal Symbol of Ancient Summoning - from plane of time Not sure if the PoTime pet focus is better than the VT one for Mages/Necros?
I checked this on the dev server during PoP beta so it may have changed since then. For Necros on PoP pets, VT focus is +15% HP and 3 DMG on max hit. Time focus is +30% HP and 8 DMG on max hit. Bash and Kick damages increase by 1 with VT and 2 with Time. Backstab increases by 11 with VT and 26 with Time. For Magicians it’s the same HP increase and VT focus is same 3 DMG on max hit but Time focus is 11 DMG on max hit instead of Necros 8. Bash and Kick increase by 1 with VT like Necros but 3 with Time instead of 2 for Necros. Backstab is increasing by 11 with VT like Necros but 37 with Time.
amazing thank you looks like Time focus is a lot better than trusty ye'ole VT gloves rich kids rejoice
Should shadowed men aggro players who stand next to them? They don't on Live servers and I find several old comments about them not aggroing. This actually makes sense since they're in newbie zones. My memory is too tainted so I really have no idea.
That sounds like how I remember them in SK on live. I spent a lot time in that zone. They were always hard to find because of it. For the longest time I didn't know they existed in SK. Like you though, my memory is foggy at this point.
My memories of them have all my chars starting out as non-kos. I wonder if Solusek Ro followers start with a lower faction?
You might be thinking of Ssynthi, Fox? A shadowman in Mistmoore who's on Sol Ro faction. He starts out non-KoS and killing regular shadowmen raises his faction, just as it does with other Sol Ro NPCs. I'm pretty sure shadowmen did start out as scowling, though it's possible they had effectively zero aggro radius like some crocodiles did. I want to say that I've run afoul of shadowmen by blundering into them, but I could be misremembering. Another possibility is that they behaved differently in different zones, as was not uncommon for classic outdoor mobs.
My memory, although fuzzy, is that I've died many times over the years as a lowbie running through Nek and WC because I've stumbled too close to the invisible man camp and gotten prox aggro.
If they did start out non-kos, I believe that faction tanked really, really fast once you started killing them. Maybe on the edge of dubious to theateningly? Again, fuzzy memory on this. This would have been on a Karana Druid on live if that plays into it.
From long before I would have been capable of killing shadowed men: [Wed Feb 02 16:04:11 2000] You have entered Lesser Faydark. ... [Wed Feb 02 16:10:39 2000] You say, 'hail a shadowed man' [Wed Feb 02 16:10:42 2000] a shadowed man scowls at you, ready to attack -- what would you like your tombstone to say? I remember fondly (somehow) running into and dying to them in Innothule back in the day, thinking "woah what a cool hand sculpture thing, I'm gonna go stand on it!" Also cutting too lazy a path through Lavastorm on my way to Sol A and getting murdered as I crested their little hill.
Perhaps RW is right then and the aggro range was just so small. You would definitely get at least 2 in SK when you pulled one, so assist radius may be more normal.
everything i could find was : small agro radius, regular assist radius. It's not that their agro range is 0, but it's small I believe.
I found old comments saying you could get right under their balls and not aggro, which is how Live is currently. I haven't checked every zone though
Small aggro radius, certainly, but not zero. I'm pretty sure I ran through this Lavastorm shadowed man camp by accident, and only managed to temporarily outrun them due to Spirit of Eagle: [Sat May 11 11:54:29 2002] You begin casting Spirit of Eagle. Also take into account large level differences if they initially aggro or not. It could be that they weren't aggroing because of that by those in those comments.
Palarran's log seems pretty definitive, though there could still be some shadowmen in some other zone that had a zero aggro radius. With NPCs above level 17, level differences should only matter when it comes to assisting behavior, not proximity-triggered aggro.
Memory is of course fallible, but +1 for remembering getting jumped in Lfay. The shadowed man here is placeholder for a shadowman leader, part of the Orc Impaler quest. It's possible he acted differently from others in other zones, as the quest lore is all about their sudden appearance and evil undertakings.
I definitely remember being kos to shadow men and being chased by them in zones like WC back in 1999/2000. Maybe it was due to my race/diety?
another thought? Maybe it was only certain shadowed men. They spawn as different classes, maybe only the cleric version had normal agro range and since it would agro, the others would assist it. Sometimes the cleric may not have been up and then their agro radius for the camp was 0
And I believe the necro version was on an important necro faction, that could effect *Edit* according to old Zam posts from 2003, the necro shadowed men would give "Beta Neutral" faction hits, seemed to include a weird smattering of beings across zones
To me, Elroz's thought makes sense. At least, it makes more sense than my initial thought of "maybe agro during the day, naps at night?", which would be interesting to code. I don't think they despawn/repop though, which was my first thought of how to solve that one... Anyways..
