The old belief is that 1.5x lowest level rounded up is the highest level they can group with. How does this apply here under 10? Old belief also was that minimum group range was +5. 9x1.5 = 13.5 rounded up is 14 which is +5. What about lower? My 5 was unable to get experience with a 10, and I don't think he got any before enchanter turned 10.
Just had a group today with that exact calculation i showed and the other player said he was getting exp when I asked.
I've found that if you are light blue or higher to the highest level in the group you tend to get exp. I expect the formula is adjusted for very low levels, but it looks like it probably is working again by level 5 based on your experience.
The formula changes over levels, but the one you are referring to (1.5x) rounds down not up, or probably more accurately does not round. A 39 won't get xp with a 60.
17 grouped with 26 still got exp. 17x1.5 = 25.5 rounded UP = 26. Still, the question was more focused on 1-8.
I'll have to test the +1 next chance with an even leveled character. The +5 minimum failed me, which was the main purpose of this thread. My level 5 did not get experience with a 10.
so by your logic a level 1 can only group with a level 2. Live maintains a 5 level minimum. This whole post was just asking if/what the minimum is here.
Early levels there seems to be something different than the 1.5* your current level, but the level range that is allowed to group at the low levels is also very small margins. At level 1 for instance, I believe they are able to group with a level 3.
Yeah look it's weird in the lower levels but does it really matter when you can be level 15 in like thirty minutes with some buffs?
I sat down to test this out just now. I have a level 6 and a level 1 grouped. Killing a level 1 mob, and the level 1 PC got xp, and the level 6 got none. Killing a level 2 mob, and both PCs got xp. So that worked as expected. Next, I'll try 7/1, and then 7/2. <edit> Neither 7/1 and 7/2 gave xp to the lower level toon, but we would expect 7/2 to give xp to both.
