This is alpha, nothing is cut and dry in an alpha. You will get clear and concise once we hit beta and beyond.
This is a time for community ideas, testing of those ideas and using what works when it matters.

Don't worry about the enforcement aspect. That will be covered far clearer than in the last years of AK.
I guess my clear and concise bit I can give you now is we are taking ideas and the server seriously.
Otherwise for 1 it wouldn't be opened. Let alone opened this early in development.
Secondly we wouldn't interact and lastly we wouldn't bother with rules that we intend to enforce.

I'd rather stay friendly and hold back when I read things that bother me and have a flare for insulting the volunteer nature of the development of this server.
There are many friendly, helpful and generous people here. Players and devs alike that are both having fun and giving much time to make this happen.

A VPN is one of the things required to defeat their detection, but you also have to --decided to edit this out for obvious reasons--. The vast majority of the playerbase isn't technically competent enough to know this stuff.

I saw Nizzar selling manastones on an RMT site for red in Jan 2012 so they really slacked on catching that, heh.

I'm all for lower boxing limits during the beta/release depending on population. I personally don't feel comfortable playing more than 4.

For alpha/testing purposes it would be convenient to be able to have several more boxes since the server population is so limited at this point. It would allow a bit faster testing on the different classes as well as the ability to augment raid testing in the near future.

What counts as automation? I remember there being a mac solution to assign hotkeys to client windows, is that allowed? Subsequently would it be allowed for a PC client program?

I can play 3 characters decently by alt-tabbing in low stress situations(group exp) but it all goes to shit when dealing with something unexpected or raids.

I guess I'm asking if you can really play 6 by alt tabbing?

The 1 box rule is the reason I have never even considered playing on P99. I spend a lot of time organizing items to be used in tradeskilling. With a 1 box rule there is no way to organize items on mules without the help of a friend and I am not comfortable asking a friend to stand by and help me transfer items from mule to mule for an hour or two. Well there is a way, shared bank, but I do not think P99 has LoY's shared bank.

Aww, well not surprising.....since the people who play there like the one box rule....the rest of us left the place long ago.

Using hotkeys to reach different instances of EQ, i.e. WinEQ2 is definitely not automation.

    Correct.

Automation would be like MQ's /killit or /APE commands which designates whatever client to automatically function without keystroke, Ive used it on rogues to automatically path behind the target and spam evade and backstab while a cleric was casting heals every time a target went below 30%; that is automation.

Hotkey screen switching is not a problem. I agree it is not considered automation.

Automation is more like how well I 6 box with multiple computers - because I am a fucking machine.

Minsc and Gaydar can tell you what automation -does- look like. They'll probably even sell scripts at half price if they're desperate

There's your script for $49.00. It isn't rocket science.

I could easily play 12 toons in PoP era with only using in-game Sony hotkeys. Playing 1 toon in EQ during PoP era is easier than 2nd grade math.

I have zero desire to do all that again, but, thanks for being a fanboy .. whoever you are Mr. Obscure 'Thor' :D

Broadcasting a single keystroke to separate instances (without alt-tabbing or what-have-you) is a good first step. Second would be setting up simple actions (e.g., nuke!) to broadcast to multiple characters at the same time.

Bam, there's the secret to boxing 18 wizards and a 12-cleric CH rot to perfection with 0 automation.

Exactly what a lot of the MQ programs do now, like EQBC etc.

On mac one easy way with wizards was clonekeys.

Yeah, legal and illegal automation is a large gray area. There is, for example, a HUGE difference between a script that just presses two keys in a loop and one that picks pixel colors from the screen or reads a log and branches off from that input.

If you guys want to see a script, here's one of mine:

    Code:
[ Only registered users can see the bbcode. Click Here To Register... ]
    Code:
[ Only registered users can see the bbcode. Click Here To Register... ]
Logitech keyboards are nothing. Lol at using warp hacks to train somebody for using a $50 keyboard.

This, I couldn't even begin to write a script like you just posted :p

I used to have some pretty mean scripts tied to my G13 gamer pad.
Worked well on PeQ and if I had to say, they would violate the rules we have here if they were used.

Word to the wise, ANY boxing assistants that fully automate all your toons at once is not acceptable.
If you can't monitor all toons chat in short periods of time, you could risk that account.
Pro-tip: If you plan to use cloners/macro pads, 4563456456 keyboards/systems, make sure you do at least LOOK at each screen and set up TELL windows.

There are many ways for anyone not just GMs to suspect or detect automation. Tells is just one obvious one.
I think someone mentioned this before, if you can't handle everything that needs to happen on each box then you need to cull your numbers and manage what you can.
This is one reason why the higher end guilds initially on AK did not really like boxing in raids.

Tho someone derailed this topic from a LIMIT on boxes to HOW to box, just suffice it to say that if you box be sure you can react on each box as if you were only running that box.
Agro, KSing, accidental run offs, Tells, Say etc...

i close chat windows on boxes, why would I get punished for that? If you are sending tells to those windows I will guarantee not respond. If I get punished for that you are retarded

Quick easy answer to a reply like that. Don't log in.
Keep being rude and I can help you with that.

But seriously, I did say there are other ways for GMs to make sure as well.
Topic locked, it is going no where and has derailed too far. Vote your peace. No need for a new boxing limit thread enough has been said here.
