I got this from P99 Wiki. True for our server as well? Hell levels In pre-2002 EverQuest, the Hell Levels are: 30 35 40 45 51 52 53 54 double hell 55 56 57 58 59 double hell Changes to formula (2002 XP smoothing) In Luclin era, the Hell Levels were "evened out": September 4, 2002 3:00 am ** Experience Changes ** - We have smoothed out level progression from 50-60. This should mitigate the "penalty effect" that occurs in levels 51, 54 and 59. Note that it will cost the same experience to level from 50 to 60 as it did before. Also, death experience loss will appear different in some levels. This is an unfortunate side effect that must remain to prevent some experience exploits.
The 30 to 45 hell levels were evened out on PC live sometime during Velious era if I remember right. Maybe Luclin but definitely before PoP. I did level 45 hell just before the change and had a huge penalty since the xp required 46 to 50 were much higher after the fix. It was said that our current total xp should have been compensated for but it would result in me hitting 46. It never happened and I lost interest in playing that char. Just an anecdote from the history
Hell levels are every 5 levels. Just before level 30 the XP needed is so small it was barely noticeable if at all. There were super hell levels that were fixed around Luclin/PoP (but definitely sure it wasn't velious) every 15 levels excluding 50+, Super hell levels were every 15 levels, 15, 30, and 45. As I said before pre 30 the XP needed was too small to be noticed. Then 50-60 hell levels (53 and 57 - I think) were also evened out during the super hell level fix. The XP needed to go from 50-60 was never changed, just the overall spread to negate the effect of the 50-60 hell levels. The same would be said for the 15/30/45 hell level fixes. The 1-50 was the same however breaking it down, it made a side effect of the planar levels (46+) take longer, in effect while the XP needed for 1-50 was not changed, 46-50 was longer as the side effect.
Yes, you are correct, it was 59, not 57. I was unsure about he first one but I was pretty sure it was 53 or 54. But saying it out loud 54 sounds more correct when I hear myself.
