My only suggestion is to make sure its in the MOTD. Its rather short notice and there are many people that don't come to the forums everyday. Otherwise, fine by me.
If channels can be made rock solid, I am all for doing this. The chat channels on AK never dropped and it would be good to see that here also.
It seems like I lose my channels a lot, or 1 of 3 characters usually stays connected to chat channels.
Was stable for me last night on all boxes. Autojoined fine from the get-go. Never dropped once. On PC client with Haynar's dll.
The channels seem to drop for me about an hour or two into a typical session. It's not limited to Mac or PC; I lose all my channels on both computers at the same time. PC is the eqw client and the newer dll. Mac is just mac.
I got UCS cleaned up a bit with removing mail junks leftover from eqemu that we don't use. Other dev will take a look at making it more effective now that it's cleaner to code with. Hopefully next wednesday patch, we'll see a more stable UCS.
I still have the same issue that I had back when the server launched: http://www.takproject.net/forums/index.php?threads/inability-to-join-chat-channels.1920/ For some reason I get 0 messages trying to connect to chat channels
We've had it for a month now. Seems to go up and down ALOT. Will randomly disconnect and will not reconnect unless you camp out. Can we have ooc/auction turned back on yet?
Reliable global channel is an immense help to new players. I'm new and that's a big complaint for me is lack of a reliable global channel to talk to others. Especially during the low pop beginning.
It does feel isolated because I have still never been able to join the chat channels on this server. I've been considering trying to set up the game with a fresh install rather than using my old Al'Kabor client/folder to see if that resolves the issue. Especially when I put up a fresh new trader with wares for sale!
I think the client has variable success with UCS, I know mine was total flake on AK. Not sure if the dropping channels issue is fixable server side.
I agree haynar, and alliance chat would always get filled up with people's boxes. Obviously this isn't a problem right now but hopefully someday it is again. I think getting chat channels working so we can have separate rooms for raids, guild alliance chats, and guktuk singing.
