    Hi all

I can log on P99 and other servers with no problem at all.

However every time I try to connect to this server I get the following error

Error 1001: Could not connect to the
    EverQuest server! Please try again
    shortly

But no matter how many times I try to log it it doesn't work. I used the game file on other computers in my house but I get the same thing. A friend of mine used the same file on two of his computers from his house and it works fine.

I was wondering if it may have something to do with my internet and this server just not working together. Because the internet is the one main thing that is different between my friends house and mine. He has cable (Roadrunner) internet. However I have Nex ( http://www.nexgenaccess.com/ ) which uses radio antenna and not cable or phone lines. This is the only internet I can get where I live.

Any and all feel back would be great. My friends and I would love to play on this server but as for me its not looking like I'm going to be able to.

    Thanks for your time
    Tonden

Are you trying to login via the eqemu login server?

I downloaded the content needed to play from here http://wiki.takp.info/index.php?title=Getting_Started

Like a said a friend of mine did the same thing as I did and is playing fine. He even brought over the files/folder that he is using and I used the same EQ folder as he is using to launch and play the game.

He has it working on two computers at his house. I have tried it on a few different computers at my house but every time after typing in the user name and password I get an error saying it cant connect try again later.

That said my p99 folder connects to the P99 server with no problem. I have another folder for another server and it works fine.

ah sounds like it's on your end. maybe a firewall is blocking the access. I don't know.

Did you create a game account? It's not the same as your forum account

Hey robregen do you use Linux for your main OS?

I'm asking because of your Avatar picture.

Sounds like something is blocking that port outbound. It could be a software or hardware firewall. As a test, try disabling your windows firewall for a few minutes (or put in an exclusion) and see if it works.

Otherwise, its possible something else is using the same port on your computer. p99 and Tak use different ports.

Rogean and Robregen the only difference in the names is "b e and r" b e and r are letters that are not found together in both John Wilkes Booth and Lee Harvey Oswald... let that sink in for a bit, then think about the penguin. I know....too much of a coincidence.

dunno if it helps anyone else, but every time I get 1001'd, I open a web browser, log into the takproject.net *forums* and then I can always log into the game just fine. It smells like a dns problem, but really is probably a side effect of the two level account thing (eg. game account dependent on forum account) somehow.

Try putting the IP itself in the eqhosts connection configuration file and see if that helps.
