It's true, I like ezmode for non-raid content. I personally classify bugs based on their ability to impact a raid outcome. SK MC bug never impacted my ability to change the course of a raid, however the bugged voice line of spells did. That's why I used MC, but not the voice line.

When soloing/grouping, ezmode is awesome. There are enough non-exploits around that are orders of magnitude more efficient than certain bugs, and I don't see a problem with things that make certain non-charm/AE classes viable in the small party game.

Either way, I don't have much of a dog in the fight, but I'm definitely less conservative when it comes to how difficult the small party game/grind should be. Doesn't mean I'm right, it's just how I feel.

What was broken on AK totally added to the charm and character of the server. Other things that were broken on AK are being fixed here, why should this be any different?

Who's to say Hobart/others wouldn't have changed this issue at some point? The idea isn't that we are trying to stress you DEV's out, or go trick-or-treating when it's not halloween as was suggested. Is this really game breaking and AK breaking or is it just a little thing that should probably be fixed anyways? There's a big difference between a classes AC getting fixed, and asking for a casino, a billion plat, 3 bags of gummy bears, and a side of animal-style fries.

As much as we love TAKP it simply is not AKurate and it never will be, and that's okay. It's AK-ish, it's pretty darn close, and it's awesome regardless. Those of us who played there are all bummed the server is gone, but it's just a game, and we are lucky to have TAKP. So please consider not overly concerning yourself with being AK, just be TAKP. This is not a knock against anyone, so please don't take it that way. We're all here to have fun and thats the way it should be.

Hobart changed things based on community feedback and request. It's why we got things like Beastlord MGB (several years out of era), a much-extended bard Pacify with the PP fix (the issue wasn't with PP per se but reverse-PP causing problems), and MC left alone.

Then again, Hobart never put in my /laserbeam command. Such is life.

Yes but this statement from the eqdev during pop in particular : " the percentage of hits for max made taking damage even more unpredictable and raised the likelihood of one-round deaths more than we wanted," as we get into luclin and pop this will become more and more likely as a scenario - a small bump (35 softcap ac) which is IN LINE with changes made and the gameplay on live in era - its not infinite mana so that i can spam lifetaps and ac taps and be the dps/tank everyone fears the monks are advocating for.

What we are advocating for is the small rectification to the wild overnerf that sony themselves performed. It is in line with changes made here - MC as an example - and certainly wouldn't have monks defensively rising to the level that is seen on p99.

We'd just be correct for the this era. Kinda like MC.

Two very different things really aren't they?

One is a small 35 ac softcap difference the other is a very broken spell that provides infinite mana when it should have provided a hundred of so mana.

One can imagine the devs not wanting to change little things that aren't that important but needing to change huge things that are just insanely overpowered.

In my experience when "little things" end up being added they provide more justification for other people to request their own "little things" and you end up with creep.

Not really. One was a broken and exploited mechanic that existed nowhere. The other is a change that was made, in-era to address the overnerf that monks experience.

They aren't even close to the same level. One - mechanic that never existed. The other - a change developer, and sony approved, in era, fits other criteron for change utilized in the MC decision (to leave it tapping mana on mobs even w/o mana).

Furthermore, the change of ac was made so that monks didn't get oneshot by the far more powerful (nonraid) mobs later.

Sounds like we would have eventually gotten the casino among other things, neat.

We might have. We certainly had the platinum inflation to make it semi-necessary

With the amount of shawls completed how have we not sunk enough platinums into tradeskilling vendors?

The vendor cost alone for a shawl is what - north of 100k per character?

With MQing a lot of the parts, think my shawl cost less than 5k in vendor mats. But to be fair it certainly would of been higher without any portions being MQ'd.

Yeah, like 3-4k if you do the MQs most folks do. The cost is basically just jewelcraft, the rest is dirt cheap. Tailoring is expensive if you don't farm silks and make kiola yourself, but the plat goes to other players, not NPC vendors.

I think the only significant plat sink in the game right now is reagents for raids.

I played a monk on Allakabor and the AC softcap wasn’t that bad. I was able to tank a lot of fun groupable content. For pulling, stonestance was incredible. They are not a broken class by any stretch.

My 2 cp is to let it be. I don’t have a strong view either way on this. But I don’t want to open up the floodgates where everyone sees this change being made and figures they can get their own desired changes made.

Your monk had VP and then EP-> time gear. Of course we can tank in that. That won't represent the majority of the population though tarkon.

This isn't just a "desired" change. Let me be clear: this change was made by Sony, in the pop era (our era). It falls well into the purview of changes made (like MC returning mana) or changing cov/gov asisst rules. This isn't just a player agitating, although that exists. I have proof of the change being made by Sony. By the people who made the game. The literal Creator.

If thats the standard of proof to make changes in a positive way (that sony had to Make that exact change in pop era) that would be an excellent way to forestall future changes.

That sets the barrier of information at a level that is extremely high. If you can point me to a flurry of other changes that sony did in the pop era, and the monk unnerf was very early in early (2003 - right after AK's formation) and its even plausible this is a change Hobart would have made himself had he the time and resources (as this is a change Sony made).

I guess Why do you think we shouldn't make the change that sony made to monks in our era?
Is it the slippery slope? Does the barrier of entry of needing it to be a sony approved change alter that in your mind? Or do you believe finding a dev post from sony to be so common that any and all changes can be made.
