wish i could find a copy of the classic EQ naming policy. and i've no idea if it was enforced on AK. bad names are just one of my pet peeves. :p here are the naming policies of today's EQLive, according to DBG's website:

even my modern lax EQ standards there are a lot of names on TAKP that violate the rules :p

not a HUGE deal but it definitely wrecks my immersion at times. if it were up to me, everyone would be required to have genre/setting appropriate names, but its not my server.

We do start enforcing a naming policy. I am for bans. Instead of renaming.

    FYI

Fun fact: in WoW beta, Blizzard had a naming policy. It didn't last very long.

Problem with a naming policy is the amount of policing required and the subjective nature of it. I'm against bans unless the names are highly offensive. People making up funny names was part of the game-- read Tigole's old news posts. Just rename them to a randomly generated name and be done with it.

I think the offensive names have been removed when it's been brought to GM attention.

There are some dumb names out there that I guess wouldn't have been permitted on a Sony/DBG-controlled server like "Druid" but there's plenty of grey subjective area in there that I don't have a big gripe either way.

would fluffy bunnies up ur butt make anyone feel better about themselves? The bunnies wouldn't be having a good day I bet.
But yeah, I agree with Haynar, democratically chosen ruleset == chaos.

The rule we need for name's is to prevent people with similar name's. Fuggon and fuggun for instance. We need all toons like this to duel in arena with winner keeping their name

Is AK-era Mental Corruption going to work on this server at some point? From what I was aware, it was still open to debate. I firmly believe it should be implemented as it existed on AK.

No. And its not open for debate either.

And it was bugged on AK. It did not work like it did that era on eqlive.

In era mental corruption would only work on mobs with mana. It was so useless it was not used. It was later changed to do damage and return mana on anything. The intent is to leave it as it currently is. Rather than nerf it to being useless, as is actually era appropriate.

In era on eqlive the monk nerf was changed partially to upgrade their softcap ac to be on the level of druids and beastlords (their mitigation remained unchanged).

Quote from Kavhok (eq dev): Several months into PoP, the nerf was partially repealed and the monk AC cap was raised to the same level as druids and beastlords. Their return on AC over the cap was left at the same level. The reasoning at the time was based on a number of factors: the percentage of hits for max made taking damage even more unpredictable and raised the likelihood of one-round deaths more than we wanted, median AC increased for nearly all levels 51+ due to the new armor in PoP and trickle-down of old armor into the economy, and other issues were brought up.

/shrug, I use MC all the time. The extra FT5 or whatever helps a lot when your ogre's mana pool is more of a puddle, and it's the same DPS as our lifetap proc buffs. It ain't infinite free mana, but it's nice.
